Privacy Policy

Last updated: February 2025

1. Introduction

Capstoris ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information, including biometric data (faceprints) created when you use our face search feature.

2. Information we collect

We may collect: (a) information you provide when you use our platform (e.g. selfie uploads, event or gallery access codes); (b) biometric data in the form of a faceprint derived from your selfie, used solely to search for photos where your image appears; (c) usage and technical data (e.g. device, IP address) necessary to operate the service; and (d) communications you send to us (e.g. via our Contact page).

3. How we use your information

We use your selfie and the resulting faceprint solely to perform searches across event and gallery media to find photographs where your image appears. We do not sell your personal information or faceprint. We use other data as needed to provide, secure, and improve our service and to comply with law.

4. Biometric data and faceprints

By uploading a selfie, you consent to us creating a biometric faceprint (a digital representation of facial features) and using it only to search and classify media. We keep your faceprint confidential and do not disclose it without your consent. We retain faceprints only for as long as necessary to classify media and for a reasonable period so you can view selected media, and in no event longer than five (5) years from the date of your selfie upload.

5. Your rights and choices

You may request that we delete or stop using or storing your faceprint or other personal data at any time. To do so, please use our Contact page. We will respond promptly to such requests. Depending on your location, you may also have additional rights (e.g. access, correction, portability, objection) under applicable data protection laws.

6. Security and confidentiality

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information and faceprint against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. We do not share your faceprint with third parties except as necessary to operate the service (e.g. trusted service providers under strict obligations) or as required by law.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and indicate the last updated date. Continued use of our service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy where permitted by law.
